TV Radio Mirror (June 1973) "To the public, James MacArthur and Zulu are important stars on the show. But by orders of the man who has the say, the one they call "The Lord," they're Hawaii Five-O's Invisible Men." Most of the publicity that has fallen on the successful Hawaii Five-O series has fallen on the star, Jack Lord -- and a lot of it has served to illustrate that Jack is very, very touchy about just what kind of publicity he does get -- hence his nickname of The Lord. As Jack has the big say-so in these matters, the show has been among the least publicized in the business and there has been a very dim spotlight on the supporting cast, in particular James MacArthur and Zulu. But you cant censor the cameras all the time, and our photographer came up with some candids of these two attractive actors. Jim is shown with his wife, Melody Patterson (of the old F Troop series). According to reports, the MacArthurs are not the most tranquil of couples -- they have their differences! -- but they are certainly one of the handsomest in show biz. Jim, you may remember, was previously married to Joyce Bulifant and they have two children. Shes now the wife of Ed Mallory of Days of Our Lives. Zulu is a celebrity in his own right in the islands. Hes shown in costume performing in a local nightclub. Hawaii Five-O is still riding high in the ratings, but the length of its run will depend on its star. The word is that Lord has tired of his role and may be looking for greener pastures, if not fresh fields to conquer. |
