Although he is the star of his first picture, The Young Stranger (RKO), 19 year-old James MacArthur has just begun his freshman year at Harvard with no more fanfare than any of his crew-cut colleagues. Son of Helen Hayes and the late Charles MacArthur, Jim finds acting a family tradition, and enjoyed making The Young Stranger in Hollywood on vacation last summer. He intends to go on with his film career but rates his studies as project number one, believing that education makes a better man and therefore a better actor. Our photographer caught Jim in off-moments during a typical Harvard day.
