Barefoot in the Park Arlington Park Theatre, Arlington Heights, Illinois (9-27 February 1977) Appearing as Paul Bratter A play by Neil Simon. Newlyweds Paul (James MacArthur) and Corrie (Lucy Saroyan) Bratter are an ill-matched pair. He's a straight-laced, conventional, and rather dull young attorney; she's a vibrant, free-spirited woman. Complicating their struggle to find a life which pleases both is her mother, Mrs. Ethel Banks (Barbara Britton), a wealthy socialite who can't understand her daughter's attraction to stodgy Paul or her willingness to live on his meager salary. Not helping the mix are upstairs neighbor, Victor Velasco (Hans Conreid), an older artistic type, whose hedonistic lifestyle appeals to Corrie, and handyman Harry Pepper (Damon Reicheg), whose ability to find joy in life's little pleasures is a quality Corrie desperately wishes her husband had.
